Totally! I can very much see the same illustrative themes. I'm assuming the lady behind the throned figure at the top is meant to be Beatrice? Does it contain Christian references other than the Divine Comedy? I'd be really interested to know what those are.

I'm also amazed how many people think Dante's Inferno is Christian text--a major literary faux pas. It was called the Divine Comedy because it was a political statement that blended Greek Myth, Christian themes, and the famous persons, political figures, and religious figures of the time, placing them in invented circles of hell of Dante's opinion and choosing, similar to an elaborate political cartoon. That's also why it was written in the common speech (Italian) instead of Latin (like religious texts). He wanted his statement to be accessible to everyone, instead of handed down by the church, and he was even exiled for his controversial fictional punishments of certain religious figures! It really is a dark and exciting read. I try to read it every few years, as my experience and understanding of it changes with age.

I'm sorry. I'm sure you might have already known all that. As someone who studies mythology and folklore as a hobby, I'm just really passionate about these books and used to having to defend their satirical nature. I'll get off my soap box now.

I really am glad how much you like this piece, as well as the two fandoms it was based on. Because I adore FF6 and Scott Pilgrim so very much. Which was why I made it.

Aw, thanks so much! I finally finished the research stage and it's currently in the conceptual stage, getting all the designs and the art style just right. Lots of sketches and fun stuff will be posting in the meantime. But I promise, as soon as I start finishing pages they will post here as well as on a new site dedicated to the comic.
